I came across an article at artnews.com the other day with the headline "The 100 Best Artworks About America."
It was compiled in advance of Saturday's 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and is described as "a list of the best artworks responding to American identity and all the issues that attend it."
Intrigued, I did what I always do when finding such lists: hit command F and searched for Arkansas. I was taken to number 97 -- "Electronic Superhighway: Continental U.S., Alaska, Hawaii," a 1995 video installation by Nam June Paik.
In the artwork all 50 states are outlined in neon and filled with Paik's take on each state's culture. Arkansas, the article notes, "includes Paik's recordings of........
