Biden sues to block release of audio, transcripts in special counsel investigation

Former President Biden on Tuesday sued the Department of Justice (DOJ) to block the release of audio and transcripts of private interviews with a ghostwriter used in a special counsel investigation into his handling of classified documents.

Biden’s lawyers filed the lawsuit in federal court in Washington D.C., ahead of the DOJ’s upcoming release of the files to the U.S. House Judiciary Committee and the conservative Heritage Foundation on June 15.

The challenge states that all Americans, including sitting and former vice presidents, have the “right to privacy in the personal conversations he has within his own home.” The former president’s lawyers also argued that the release of these documents would cause Biden harm “in the form of costs to respond to the disclosure and other financial losses.”
