Iran must do something “meaningful” related to their stockpile of enriched uranium to make progress in nuclear negotiations with the U.S., Vice President Vance said in an interview with Reuters on Tuesday.
Iran’s claim of a right to enrichment is a key sticking point in negotiations over its nuclear program. While Iran says it does not seek to build a nuclear weapon, U.S. officials from both sides of the aisle say the Islamic Republic’s pursuit of stockpiles of highly enriched uranium is only for that purpose.
“If you don’t want a nuclear weapon, then why do you need 60% enriched fuel? And if you want to show commitment to not building a nuclear weapon, don’t build highly enriched fuel. That’s a very basic threshold........
