Mesh security fencing has been up outside a home in Albany Road, located just off Magdalen Road, after a car crashed into the front wall last month.

Neighbours have said the mum living in the property with her young son will not be able to return home for several months.

They added they believe she is waiting to hear back following a survey and assessment at the property.

Construction company Charter Property Repairs sent a surveyor to the home on November 11.

A spokeswoman for the company said: "It could be a long time to finish the work as it depends on what trades are available."

A 74-year-old man living next door, who did not wish to be named, said: "There is no ill-will from her. She has accepted it was an accident and has moved on.

"It is frustrating but she has accepted she will not be back for Christmas."

More chipboard has been put up at the front of the home to make it weatherproof following the crash which took place around 5.30pm on Thursday, October 20.

The gas has also been turned off inside the home.

The landlord of a property next to the damaged house, who did not wish to be identified, said he has been told "it could be a while" before the building is fully repaired.

He said: "It sounds like there could be a delay of several months."

Iris Francis, 82, who lives two doors down from the damaged home in Albany Road, said: "I have not seen the woman who lives there at all since it happened."

No injuries were reported and the occupant is staying with family in the city.

Julie Brociek-Coulton, Labour city and county councillor for the Sewell ward, said: "I walked past on the day of the incident and saw loads of emergency services but I do not know much about it."
