Like West Bengal, the other BJP state governments like Uttarakhand, Gujarat, and Assam have also kept scheduled tribes out of UCC.

“An almost Uniform Civil Code", posted an X user mocking West Bengal keeping scheduled tribes (ST) out of the new Bill on personal law it proposes to bring soon.

While the CM Suvendu Adhikari government is set to unveil the UCC Bill in the Assembly, state BJP president Samik Bhattacharya has explicitly stated that nothing in the UCC will apply to state’s tribals.
