Scott Pelley wrong about Renee Good’s car, unfair to Bari Weiss?  

CBS News correspondent Scott Pelley is going after Bari Weiss after his firing from “60 Minutes,” lashing out during an interview with The New York Times in which he asserted that Weiss has no television experience and should not have her current job.  

In fact, during that interview, he betrays the fact that he didn’t know who Weiss was before she took the job, which is fairly remarkable to me. Bari Weiss has been a notable — and at times controversial — media person for at least five years. Her high-profile departure from The Times itself in the summer of 2020 generated tons of attention, as did her founding of the Free Press. I can certainly understand that not every buddy in the world has heard of this successful center or center-right media figure, but Pelley is, I thought, pretty checked in to what’s going on. I suppose he was living in his own sort of bubble.  

But that’s not the part of this interview I wanted to call to attention. One of Pelley’s major beefs with Weiss was that she dared to give him editorial notes on a segment that was going to air about ICE protests in Minneapolis after the shooting death of Renee Good. One of those........
