Dead pigeon thrown into garden as fears grow over derelict and fire-ravaged flats

People living opposite the derelict Fishergate building, near the city centre, say they have endured six years of antisocial behaviour at the site, including drug-taking and littering.

The deteriorating property has also become a magnet for youths who repeatedly pull down the surrounding fencing, which is propped up with weeds and debris.

Now locals are calling for the authorities to take action and bring the area back into use.

Despite lodging complaints with Norwich City Council, Norfolk Constabulary and building owner Tim Fenn, residents say nothing has been done to improve the site's worsening condition.

They have also criticised the council for not taking action to secure the site, claiming Mr Fenn has allowed it to fall into disrepair over the past six years.

People living in Old Millers Wharf, just off Fishergate, can see directly into the charred building from their homes.

They claim unauthorised people are squatting and taking drugs inside, and that it has become a breeding ground for pigeons.

Earlier this week, a group of six people was seen attempting to climb into the building, leaving neighbours fearing the worst.

Sonia Evans, who lives in the same street, caught the group trespassing and threatened to call the police before they moved on.
