New Delhi: In a major success in the US trade deal, Washington on Monday agreed to a trade deal with India after moths of discussions between two sides. The US lowered the Reciprocal tariff to 18 percent from the previous 25 percent. The discussions on the trade deal between two sides was going for some time. Both sides had interacted a number of times for the deal.

There was a concern in India over the deal ever since the Trump administration imposed an additional 25 percent tariff on India over New Delhi’s purchase of crude oil from Russia. The US had accused India of indirectly strengthening Moscow in its war against Ukraine. The total tariff that the US imposed on India had gone up to 50 percent.
