Google is launching a universal Gemini agent for enterprise workplace tasks

The agent can handle tasks across Gmail, Drive, Docs and third-party platforms like Slack and Microsoft 365, with built-in cost controls and security governance

Google $GOOGL announced the Gemini agent on Thursday, a single AI system for enterprise customers designed to handle knowledge work, content creation, coding, and question-answering from one interface. The product was unveiled at the company's Gemini at Work 2026 event by Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian.

The agent is premised on delegation: employees describe what they want accomplished, and the agent determines how to complete it and delivers the result. It operates across web, iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, command line, Google Workspace, Microsoft $MSFT 365, and Slack $WORK, and can also run without a dedicated interface inside third-party applications, Google said.
