Consumer Reports had testers with darker skin tones try eight sunscreens for protection, texture and residue, so shoppers can find one they'll actually want to reapply.

Priced at $11, the Alba Botanica Hawaiian Lotion SPF 30 Aloe Vera delivers excellent UVA protection and decent protection against sunburn-causing rays. Consumer Reports found its actual SPF came close to the 30 printed on the label, and rated its overall performance very good. CR found no discernible performance flaws with this lotion during testing. Testers described a plastic, beach-ball-like scent similar to fragrance-free products, and said it left a greasy, draggy residue on skin.
