An unusually lengthy public inquest has been scheduled to establish how Brian Rodgers, a beloved father and fiancé, died while working at the Furlong Heath housing development in Sprowston.

The 42-year-old was pronounced dead at the site, off Salhouse Road, after emergency services were called on February 17, 2026.

Norfolk Coroner’s Court confirmed that a full hearing will take place over three days, from April 13 to 15, 2027.

The significant amount of court time allocated reflects the extent of the evidence expected to be examined, with a number of witnesses due to give live accounts of what happened in the moments preceding Mr Rodgers’ death.

Norfolk Police and the Health and Safety Executive have been investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
