The Israeli drama “Fauda” is at the top of the Netflix television streaming chart in Lebanon, where much of the season was set, and features in the top ten in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Jordan.

“I haven’t gotten used to the success — even now in the fourth season, it still surprises me and Lior Raz every time,” co-creator Avi Issacharoff told Army Radio on Wednesday, referring to the star and co-creator of the show.

“I just spoke with someone from Lebanon — he had disagreements about details in the script,” he said.

Season 4 of the show, which first aired in Israel last year and became available on Netflix last week, is also in the top ten list in Sweden, Sri Lanka, Serbia, Romania, Poland, Norway, the Netherlands, Kenya, Hungary, Greece, Finland, the Czech Republic, Cyprus and Croatia.

However, it does not appear to be quite as popular in Belgium, where much of the action is set.

The plot of the season was inspired by a true story that happened in Israel many years ago, Issacharoff said last year.

Fans had been waiting since 2020 for the latest episodes of the drama, which has most of its dialogue in Hebrew and Arabic.

The filming of the fourth season of the drama ran into problems with a real-life conflict. The crew had been set to fly to Ukraine for filming when Russia invaded, and instead had to shoot in Hungary.

Raz remains at the center of the chaos of the season, along with returning cast members including Itzik Cohen (Captain Ayub), Rona-Lee Shimon (Nurit), Idan Amedi (Sagi), Doron Ben David (Steve), Yaacov Zada Daniel (Eli) and Meirav Shirom (Dana).

Television and radio presenter Lucy Ayoub is among the actors who joined the cast.
