The Girl With The Big Blue Eyes

Every fairytale starts with the words there once was.

So in this case there once was a girl with the big blue eyes.

The girl with the big blue eyes was thoughtful, highly sensitive, passionate and stubborn. She never liked following crowds. Even as a child she preferred asking questions instead of accepting what everyone else believed. She loved animals and always stood up for those who were weaker. The girl with the big blue eyes believed that character mattered more than popularity and that truth mattered more than convenience.

She moved often during her childhood and saw more of the world than many children her age. Different countries, different languages, different cultures and different ways of life became part of her education. She learned early that people could be kind, but she also learned that people could be cruel. Humanity often struggles to accept those who are different. Anyone who stands out becomes a target. Even a girl with the big blue eyes.

She came from a family that valued history, education and personal responsibility. Her parents taught her about the tragedies of the Second World War and the suffering of the Jewish people. They taught her that freedom is fragile and that prejudice can grow when good people remain silent. Those lessons stayed with her throughout her life.
