IT has been a week of extraordinary news developments.

Another British prime minister falling by the wayside less than two years since assuming office would usually dominate the local news agenda, but the dramatic downfall of Jeffrey Donaldson has rightly been the main focus for media attention.

A convicted rapist and child abuser, the former DUP leader now stands to face an appropriately lengthy prison sentence for the unspeakable crimes he committed against victims he had forced to relive their trauma by having to give evidence at the trial.

It is only right to firstly commend the two women who bravely brought these crimes to the attention of the police.
