O’Reilly calls Iran negotiations a ‘farce’: ‘Everybody knows it’

Political commentator Bill O’Reilly on Wednesday dismissed peace talks between the U.S. and Iran as a “farce,” as the two sides resumed strikes this week.

“The negotiations are a farce. Everybody knows it, [the] American public knows it,” O’Reilly told host Leland Vittert on NewsNation’s “On Balance.”

The U.S. launched strikes on Iran earlier this week in response to Iranian forces shooting down an American Apache helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz. U.S. forces used drones to rescue the two crew members, who were in stable condition as of Tuesday.

President Trump said Wednesday that Iranian officials have “taken too long” in negotiations and “will have to pay the price,” after repeatedly claiming in recent months that the U.S. and Iran were close to a deal.

On Thursday, the president warned of further strikes on the Islamic Republic and added that the U.S. will seize Kharg Island, a key Iranian oil depot.
