Sydney's multicultural west offers Morrison a path to a 2022 cakewalk

I witnessed the infamous dictum deployed at a Sydney seminary in 1979, when a priest used it to end a lively discussion on the church’s prohibition on contraception.

Seven years on at a secular university the militant left was on the march and its hallmark was shouting down anyone it found offensive. And finding offence was its reason to be.

It struck me then that these apparent polar opposites are the yin and yang of the moralising prude. The Old Puritans and New Puritans are humourless, intolerant, proselytising wowsers. The only thing that separates them is the heretics they choose to burn.

Roll forward to 2019 and with many of the traditional churches disgraced, the New Puritans have assumed the commanding heights of the moral high ground. Daily its online acolytes rain down ire on anyone who........
