NorCal snowpack measures 50% of average even after atmospheric rivers
The California Department of Water Resources measured the state’s snowpack on Dec. 30, 2025.
California’s snowpack is measuring well below average, even after multiple winter storms dumped inches of precipitation in the state, according to new data.
The California Department of Water Resources found that snow levels are currently at 71% of average as of Dec. 30, according to the first snowpack survey of the season.

The snowpack did jump up significantly from an average of 0.9 inches of snow water on Dec. 19 to 6.5 inches on Dec. 30, an increase of about 622%.
