Andrew, our aspiring governor: From Cuomo to...Giuliani?

With Andrew Cuomo out of the way, it’s time to focus on the other political progeny named Andrew running for governor of New York State: Andrew Giuliani.

Just kidding. Andrew Giuliani will not be governor. Other than his (in)famous surname, Giuliani has no rationale to run for governor nor a path to victory. Fran Reiter, a Giuliani deputy mayor who ran Rudy’s successful re-election campaign in 1997, agrees with my analysis.

“DNA will only get you so far in politics,” she told me, comparing Andrew Giuliani with Andrew Cuomo. “Andrew Cuomo was his father Mario’s campaign manager and hatchet man when he was in his 20s. Andrew Giuliani was a kid when his father was mayor. He doesn’t know how complex government agencies run and has never been a boss.”

Andrew Giuliani’s work experience consists of four years playing golf with President Trump on the taxpayers’ dime and as special assistant to the president and associate director in the office of public liaison, arranging conferences and meetings and welcoming championship professional sports teams to the White House — the few times they showed up while Trump was president. And, for some unexplained reason, Trump named Andrew Giuliani to the board of trustees of the United........
