Police reveal number of arrests following East Anglian derby
Ipswich Town completed their first double over rivals Norwich City, winning 2-0 at Carrow Road.
Norfolk police confirmed the arrests had been made for offences including; criminal damage, common assault, being drunk and disorderly, and affray.
All individuals arrested remain in police custody.
Chief Superintendent Wes Hornigold, the match-day policing commander, provided the update and thanks to fans following extensive travel plans due to no trains between Ipswich and Norwich this weekend.
He said: "My thanks go to everybody at Carrow Road this afternoon.
"We know this match holds great significance for both sets of supporters.
"Our primary responsibility is to keep people safe; we’ve been able to do that as well as balance the needs of supporters.
"I know some fans were asked to wait at Thorpe Road, Lower Clarence Road and Carrow Bridge for a short while, so my thanks to them for waiting with good grace, and to all supporters for their patience and understanding.
"My thanks also go to our emergency service colleagues, both football clubs and partner agencies for being so willing to work with us – I really appreciate their support."
A significant number of officers were deployed around the stadium, in the city centre, and the surrounding area.
Specialist police units, including drones and police horses, were also used before, during, and after the match to help manage crowds and maintain order.
Some travel restrictions were put in place before and after the match to ensure fans could move safely to and from the ground.
The restrictions have now been lifted.
At the Suffolk leg of the derby, five arrests were made following the Ipswich Town and Norwich City clash.
