3 Italians flew Delhi-Munich without immigration check; Air India gets notice

The Civil Aviation Ministry has issued the airline a show-cause notice and sought an explanation for the alleged SOP violations as the three Italian passengers flew from Delhi to Munich without completing mandatory immigration clearance, exposing gaps in Air India’s passenger-handling process.

New Delhi: Three Italian nationals travelled from Delhi to Munich without completing mandatory immigration checks, prompting the Ministry of Civil Aviation to issue a show-cause notice to Air India.

The incident took place in the early hours of September 4. The passengers arrived in Delhi from Amritsar on Air India flight AI-1115 at around 12:50 am. Roughly an hour later, at 1:45 am, they boarded Lufthansa flight LH-763 bound for Munich.

The passengers were travelling under Air India’s hub-and-spoke arrangement in which travellers from smaller airports connect through a major airport before taking an international flight.
