ISRO's Aditya L1 used to examine October 2024 solar storm
New Delhi: Scientists from the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) have used data captured by the Aditya-L1 mission along with data captured by other heliophysics observatories to investigate a severe geomagnetic storm that struck the Earth between 10 and 11 October, 2024. The storm was a result of a massive coronal mass ejection (CME) that was unleashed by the Sun on 9 October, carrying a charged cloud of particles along with the tangled magnetic fields of the Sun. The CME evolved in interplanetary space before washing over the Earth, inducing the severe geomagnetic storm.
