Dems against Trump’s Maduro capture: Letters to the Editor — Jan. 6, 2026

Those saying President Trump capturing Nicolás Maduro was unconstitutional are either being disingenuous or don’t know what is in the Constitution, nor do they understand the Monroe Doctrine and other historical precedents giving the president authority to do exactly what Trump did (“Don disses doubters,” Jan. 4).

The people who were chanting “no kings” are now defending a ruthless dictator who’s killed thousands of Americans by sending drugs into our country.

Democrats don’t like anything Trump does, no matter if it’s in our best interest or not.

I have this hypothetical question: If Trump were president during the early 1940s and authorized and carried out a successful capture of Adolf Hitler, would the Democrats have been opposed to that........
