Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defence has confirmed the arrival of a Pakistani military force, including fighter and support aircraft, at King Abdulaziz Air Base in the Eastern Sector, marking a new phase in operational cooperation under the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement signed between the two countries in September 2025.

According to the Saudi statement issued on Saturday, the deployment is aimed at enhancing joint military coordination and improving the operational readiness of both armed forces. The agreement between the two “brotherly countries” stipulates that an attack on one would be treated as an attack on both, underscoring the depth of their evolving defence partnership.

The arriving Pakistani contingent includes assets from the Pakistan Air Force, comprising fighter jets and supporting aircraft, which will participate in coordinated activities designed to strengthen interoperability between the two militaries.

Officials said the deployment reflects ongoing efforts to institutionalise defence collaboration following the formal agreement signed last year. The presence of Pakistani forces in Saudi Arabia signals an expansion of bilateral military engagement beyond traditional training and advisory roles toward more integrated operational coordination.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have long maintained close strategic, economic, and security ties, with cooperation spanning defence training, counterterrorism, and regional security coordination. The latest development is being viewed as a significant step in formalising joint defence preparedness under their strategic framework.
