Clean energy drive aims to transform UK economy and cut reliance on imports

As recent global events have shown, energy has repeatedly been caught up in global conflicts and geopolitical tensions, leaving millions of people and businesses worse off.  

It squeezes budgets, puts strain on economic output and drives inflation. When prices spike overseas, the British public pay.  

This country now faces a choice: does it want to be a price taker, or a price maker?  

The solution is to rapidly scale up our homegrown energy generating assets and accelerate the country's journey to becoming a price maker.  

It means taking back control of our energy system, managing the generation and distribution of electricity and the wide-ranging benefits that come with it.
