The Charcoal Line service linking Norwich, Bungay, and Halesworth was subject to timetable changes at the end of August, with the daytime X41 service withdrawn and much of the route reduced to a single hourly bus.

The changes have already prompted anger from passengers, who have complained of longer journey times, overcrowding and reduced access to key destinations.

Among those concerned is a football fan who is considering giving up her Norwich City season ticket, while one wheelchair user fears being left waiting hours for an accessible space.

Now local councillors and campaigners have joined calls for an explanation from operator First Bus.

Suffolk county councillor Peter Aiano said he had received a flood of complaints from locals since the changes came into effect.

He said: "As a Bungay resident that uses this service all the time, I am upset and angry."

"My inbox is full of complaints as there was no consultation with residents or councillors."
