Archaeologists uncover Anglo-Saxon buildings in a market town
Although Halesworth has long been thought to have Roman origins, new excavations have revealed extensive evidence of Middle to Late Anglo-Saxon activity.
The dig, carried out by Cotswold Archaeology, uncovered remains of several buildings, hearths and a small cemetery in what some archaeologists believe was likely a new suburb of the expanding town.
