Livery yard manager criticises plans for new petrol station and McDonald's

The plans, lodged by FPC Income and Growth PLC, would see the new development constructed on land at the junction of Yarmouth Road and the Caister by-pass.

But Pamela Woolsey, who has ran the Caister Livery Yard for 35 years, has said she is "very concerned" about the plans for several reasons.

She said: "One of our main concerns is the gas pipelines that run underneath the field, as well as the electric cables.

"You would have deep tanks of petrol buried right next to gas pipes - with horses, hay and straw all nearby.

"It would be terribly distressing."
