Soldier's family claim hanging death at Norfolk military training camp was 'cover-up'
But a coroner said there was “no evidence at all” to support the theory that another person was involved in the death of Mykola Petrovich Nesterenko, 46, at Wretham Camp, near Thetford.

Norfolk Coroner’s Court heard Mr Nesterenko’s relatives in Ukraine refused to believe the experienced serviceman would have taken his own life, insisting he had shown no suicidal thoughts and had appeared calm and positive just hours before his death.

His sister Viktoria Nesterenko attended proceedings remotely from Ukraine via video link with the assistance of an interpreter.
Mr Nesterenko, a trainee soldier who had arrived in Britain just days earlier for advanced military training, was found hanging in a drying room at the army base on the evening of June 4, 2025.
Assistant coroner Christopher Leach concluded he died by hanging but said there was insufficient evidence to determine his state of mind or intention.
