Here are five scenic walks across the county that finish with somewhere cosy to refuel.

1. Holkham to Wells-next-the-Sea

If you were to pick one walk to sum up the north Norfolk coast, the Holkham to Wells stretch would be hard to beat.

Start from Holkham’s Lady Anne’s Drive or the main car park and follow the boardwalks and sandy paths through the pinewoods and out onto that huge, shimmering beach.

Turn east along the shore or track the Norfolk Coast Path behind the dunes and you’ll eventually curve into Wells harbour, with its bobbing boats and colourful beach huts in the distance.

Once you’ve earned your appetite, Wells offers plenty of choice – The Globe and The Crown both serve food and local ales.
