Man, 18, charged with rape after report of assault in alleyway
The woman, who is in her 20s, got into a cab with a friend near the Blues pub in Lowestoft just after midnight on Sunday.
A man who was unknown to the pair then got in as well.
The taxi took the group to the Volunteer pub in London Road North, where the woman and the man got out.
They then walked towards Milton Road East where the man led the woman into an alleyway near to the junction of Arnold Street and reportedly assaulted her.
The suspect is understood to have run down London Road North, turning into Gordon Road.
Around 12 hours later, police arrested an 18-year-old man from Lowestoft in connection with the incident and he was taken to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
Harvey Flory, of Shaw Avenue in Lowestoft, has subsequently been charged with two counts of rape, and one count of sexual assault by penetration.
He has been remanded in custody to appear before Norwich Magistrates Court today.
A spokesman for Suffolk police said the victim continues to be assisted by specialist officers.
