Five people stranded after being cut off by tide at harbour

Wells RNLI launched its inshore lifeboat after a 999 call was made to Blakeney Harbour at around 9.15pm on Sunday.

The lifeboat set off with three volunteer crew members on board.

Two crew members reached the stranded group and safely guided them across a creek to higher ground.

The individuals were then handed over to waiting coastguard teams.

"This incident highlights how quickly the tide can catch people out, particularly around creeks and harbour areas where water can rise and cut off escape routes very quickly," James Betteridge, helm of the inshore lifeboat, said.

"The group did the right thing by calling for help early, which meant we could get to them safely.

"Even the most experienced and capable people can find themselves in difficulty."

The RNLI advises people to check tide times, be mindful of rising water in creeks, and dress appropriately for coastal conditions.
