It happened in the bar after Beccles Caxton played Ransomes Sports in the Suffolk Junior Cup semi-final on Friday.

They kicked off at Walsham-le-Willows FC at 7.45pm and the Beccles side went on to win 1-0.

But the celebrations did not go to plan.

A representative for Beccles Caxton took to X, formerly Twitter, later that evening claming that fans from Ransomes Sports "punched young girls" in the bar.

"A sour end to a cracking cup tie," they said.

It is not known whether the incident was reported to police, but Suffolk Constabulary has been contacted for comment.

Both football clubs were also approached.

A spokesman for Suffolk FA said: “We are aware of an isolated issue at the Ransomes versus Beccles Caxton match on Friday night and have opened an investigation into the incident.

“We condone any poor behaviour at football matches and will take any necessary action once the investigation is concluded.”
