Norfolk school meets every Ofsted standard after remarkable turnaround

Wroughton Junior Academy in Gorleston, which serves a community with significantly higher levels of disadvantage than average, was graded as "requires improvement" just three years ago.

Now, it meets every national standard, highlighting the significant progress made in a short period.

The academy has been commended for its "excellent" behaviour and zero tolerance towards bullying.

Inspectors found that pupils enjoy attending school, and the well-planned curriculum ensures they leave well-prepared for secondary education.

The report praises the staff for their "highly consistent expectations of how pupils should behave," which are well understood by the students.

It notes that "classrooms are calm and focused," and that "pupils focus and work hard in lessons".

"Bullying and discrimination are not accepted," inspectors found, adding that any unkind behaviour is dealt with "firmly but fairly" by staff.
