New Delhi has long blamed Pakistan for domestic violence to mask political failures and rally public support. However, this narrative lacks factual backing. The divide between fiction and reality was exposed on Indian television when Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim refused to endorse the state-aligned host’s baseless, biased accusations. Following the Pahalgam attack, India swiftly blamed Pakistan and prepared for military action based on unproven allegations of state-sponsored terrorism. However, this narrative faltered once again when Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim stated that his nation’s security agencies found no evidence implicating Pakistan, exposing the gap between political claims and verified facts. Why does this matter? Because Malaysia is not a hostile actor. It is a respected member of the Islamic world, a trading partner of India, and a country with its own intelligence capabilities and its own stake in regional stability.
