A grandfather and minister died in 'super blue' Portland, Oregon last year. The 56 year old didn't succumb to natural causes. He was murdered. Shot by home invaders young enough to be his grandchildren.

His case is a requiem for community 'Gen Xers,' and Generation X period, many of whom thought their senior years would be peaceful like 'Baby Boomer' grandparents—at least ones far enough away from what I call ‘urban apocalypse’.

5 Teens Arrested After Black Man Killed in Home While Protecting His Grandson (Black News, March 5, 2026)

Kevin Cooper, 56, a minister at People of Purpose Family Worship Center

'Violent traitors' is my term for criminals who pretended to be police officers to force their way into this man's home. He nobly died shielding his four-year-old grandchild.

This wasn't a misunderstanding. Or result of macro forces beyond their control. It was treason against community safety.

A system which pampers youth who wage war on homeowners is a failed state. At least for victims. Many generationational peers navigate disrespectful, potentially dangerous teens and young adults. We're told this is a sign of an 'enlightened' society that doesn't 'warehouse' its proven threats.

Instead, political enablers let 'violent traitors' make life miserable and unsafe for stakeholders.

He died after shielding his grandchild, which is what any grandfather would've done in the face of armed aggressors.

The murder of this grandfather is a requiem for Black 'Gen Xers' and Generation X period. it illustrates risks associated with making it to senior citizenship in unsafe cities.

He didn't deserve what happened. No one does. A takeaway from this outrage is never answer strange knocks at the door. If announcing they're law enforcement without identification, call 911 and request units arrive to confirm knockers' police credentials

Or at the very least, don't answer the door empty handed. I'll let your imagination-and applicable law-fill in the blanks.

Another conclusion is rehearsing to stop sudden aggression isn't paranoia. Heightened awareness doesn't mean hysteria.

It means preparation. Please use this case as a cautionary tale.
