I’m watching an interview with Emad Mostaque, hedge-fund manager, co-founder of Stability AI, tech mogul and author of We Have 900 Days Left.

His profile includes this: “Emad Mostaque says we have /-900 days before AI breaks the economy and replaces most screen-based jobs. He gives humanity 50/50 odds of making it.”

His interviewer asks: “Why don’t we measure the risks and impose controls?”

Mostaque responds: “Because people have always built on the successes of others, and because there’s staggering money at stake.”

So, we on for golf this weekend?

I missed the International Robot Exhibition in Tokyo in December, but I can boldly announce that the only thing separating human and humanoid is the oid.

What’s your guess? Me? At the current rate of change and, uh, progress, I anticipate human extinction in — I’m gonna reach here — 25 years, or a human generation.
