Harassment Has No Gender

Harassment is not confined to one gender; both men and women experience it, often in silence. This subject has always been deeply personal to me, and I have long wanted to write about it. As a lawyer, I have repeatedly encountered women who have faced harassment in the workplace. Contrary to common belief, such incidents are not limited to small organisations; they occur just as frequently in multinational corporations. Harassment is also not restricted to formal workplaces. It can take place in public or private spaces, wherever individuals are subjected to inappropriate conduct, abuse of power or sustained indignity.

As I have progressed in my professional and personal life, I have also witnessed men facing similar trauma. Yet while women are often encouraged to speak to other women and seek support, men are frequently discouraged from coming forward. Society continues to reinforce the damaging notion that men do not complain or cannot be victims. This mindset silences survivors, deepens their suffering and allows harmful behaviour to continue unchecked.
