Nashville’s airport board voted Friday to unanimously approve the renaming of the city’s airport after the late country star Dolly Parton.
Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee (R) proposed the name change shortly after Parton died last month at the age of 80 following a brief battle with cancer.
The Metro Nashville Airport Authority’s vote marks the first formal step toward dedicating Nashville International Airport to the iconic artist, who was born and raised in the Volunteer State.
