The woman who accused Maine Senate nominee Graham Platner (D) of sexually assaulting her nearly five years ago when they dated alleged Monday that she considered it to be rape.
In an interview with CNN’s “The Lead,” Jenny Racicot, 41, described the alleged encounter with Platner, which was first reported by Politico. She said he entered her home uninvited in 2021 while extremely intoxicated and forced himself on her after ignoring repeated refusals.
When asked whether she believes the Maine Democrat raped her, she answered, “By definition? Yes, absolutely.”
The outlet reported it reviewed text messages and interviewed people that Racicot had previously told about the incident, including her therapist and an ex-boyfriend.
Platner has denied the allegations.
“These allegations are troubling, serious, and false,” he told Politico. “Any accusation of non-consensual behavior is categorically........
