Migrants are pretending to be gay in order to take advantage of the United Kingdom’s asylum system, according to a BBC investigation.

Migrants “whose visas are due to run out are being given fake cover stories and instructed in how to obtain fabricated evidence, including supporting letters, photographs and medical reports,” reports the BBC. They then apply for asylum, donning their new gay identities. The migrants reportedly claim they can’t return to their home countries of Pakistan or Bangladesh for fear of persecution and death.

Migrants with expiring visas (often granted for studying, work, or tourist purposes) now make up 35% of all asylum claims, according to the BBC.

The outlet reports that one immigration adviser “boasted that she had spent more than 17 years helping bring fake claims and said she could arrange for someone to pretend they’d had a gay sexual relationship with a client.”

Another immigration adviser reportedly told an undercover reporter he could “bring his wife over from Pakistan once he had got asylum in the UK and she could then make a fake claim pretending to be a lesbian.”

The BBC attended an “Eid Milan Party” on Tuesday. The event was organized by Worcester LGBT and billed itself as a “safe, inclusive space for LGBTQ+ asylum seekers.” Worcester LGBT claims to work exclusively with “LGBTQ+ asylum seekers and refugees.”

But the BBC discovered that the event’s attendees had no intention of even pretending to be gay.

“Most of the people here are not gays,” a man named Fahar told an undercover reporter.

“Nobody is a gay here. Not even 1% are gay. Not even 0.01% are gay,” a man named Zeeshan said.

Gay sexual activity is illegal in Pakistan. Homosexuality is illegal in Bangladesh, too, with gay sex acts carrying a maximum penalty of life imprisonment. It’s not too surprising that men from these nations would scramble to distance themselves from a homosexual label.

An undercover BBC reporter spoke to Tanisa Khan, a woman who reportedly works as an adviser to Worcester LGBT.

Khan reportedly advised the reporter to apply for asylum on the basis of being gay. After he admitted he was not gay, Khan reportedly said, “Listen to me. There is nobody who is real. There is only one way out in order to live here now and that is the very method everyone is adopting.” (RELATED: Plans For Massive Muslim Community In Texas Ends After Daily Caller Investigation, Rep. Fraud is the rule, not the exception, when it comes to immigration. And “asylum” is a shoddy policy in the first place. Someone might be at risk of persecution or death in their native land, but that’s not, in and of itself, a reason to let them into your country. The impact of the migrant’s presence on the natives’ well-being should be the first and foremost consideration of the native government.
