What are we doing, people?
Jarren Duran, the left fielder for the Boston Red Sox, happened to be put into the spotlight once again Tuesday night, with this particular episode involving an outright disrespectful fan.
After a groundout in the fifth inning, Duran tossed up a middle finger, but considering why he did it, you probably would have done the same thing.
Following the game, Duran said that a fan shouted at him to commit suicide, and though that’s already pretty bad on paper, it’s actually much worse when you consider Duran’s past. Publicly, the outfielder has talked about his attempt to kill himself, but unfortunately, fans have used it against him. Just like Tuesday. Duran kept it real though, saying that it wasn’t the proper response despite how harsh the situation was.
“Somebody told me to kill myself,” said Duran after a 6-0 loss for the Red Sox against the Minnesota Twins, per OutKick.
“I’m used to it at this point. Sh*t happens. I’m going to flip somebody off if they say something to me. It is what it is. I shouldn’t react like that, but that stuff is still kind of triggering. It happens.”

I swear our society has hit a different level of hate today, everybody is just so damn hateful, which forces you to be hateful even though you don’t wanna be … you know, I totally get you, Jarren.
Major League Baseball should just completely sweep this whole thing under the rug.
