The latest attempt by police to catch speeding drivers in Wiltshire sparked a lot of discussion.

Officers from the Royal Wootton Bassett Neighbourhood Team conducted speed checks across its area on Monday, September 15, and caught 16 motorists going faster than the legal limit.

Here’s what you had to say on the matter.

Adrian Markham said: “Why is it this country and the police are so obsessed with catching speeders? “The amount of fixed speed cameras average speed cameras mobile speed cameras and police on foot with speed guns its absolutely ridiculous.

“This tiny island has more speed cameras than the whole of America, and that’s because it’s all about money and not safety its pure greed.”

Trevor Smyth replied: “And so they should, there are a lot of so called drivers on the road today that have no idea of speed, I hope they all get caught, it will serve them right.”

Andrea Lipsett said: “I guess it’s easier than catching criminals. would rather have them keep us safe on the streets and in our homes, there’s no real penalty for dangerous driving especially death by dangerous driving the law is same.”
