December generally delivers a month of gift giving and, as we’ve done previously, we wanted to throw down some gifts from the upper turrets of the ivory tower, a place where the view is vast and our observations often half-baked.

Our offerings won’t seem like much at first, but bear with us as we attempt to make everyone’s dreams come true.
First, for the biggest of the children — the National Football League — we offer sincere hopes the coming playoffs and Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara will rival the excitement that October and November just provided by Major League Baseball. It’s not often we get a seven-game World Series spread over two countries (with multiple extra-inning extravaganzas) delivering monster ratings.
