Kalshi surged to 3 million new users by riding the World Cup wave

More than $1.2 billion traded on the platform's World Cup winner contract, a record for a single market on Kalshi

Kalshi added 3 million new users over the course of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the prediction market platform told CNBC. The contract asking traders to pick the tournament winner crossed $1.2 billion in trading volume, setting a platform record for any single market. The contract settled after Spain's 1-0 victory over Argentina in Sunday's final.

Total World Cup volume on Kalshi exceeded $12 billion.

To drive the growth, Kalshi pursued a range of marketing partnerships during the tournament.........
