The Independent Monitoring Board said there had been a total of 182 incidents of self-harm in a year involving 51 prisoners at HMP Bure, based at the site of the former RAF Coltishall airbase.

An annual report between August 1, 2024 and July 31, 2025 highlighted 40 cases of cuts and scratches.

The board has made recommendations to the governor, calling for them to consider removing wet shave razors from the prison.
