It is understood that Amber Stebbings, 28, had moved back to the Lowestoft area earlier this year, having spent time living in Norwich.

She is accused of murdering Gary Grant, 54, in Lowestoft's Sparrow's Nest Gardens.

Just last month she posted on social media of having a "room to rent" in the NR3 Norwich area, with the property to be available on March 1.

Last year Stebbings was "looking for a room to rent in Lowestoft or the surrounding areas," as she looked to move back nearer to the town.

This is said to be at a home on Spashett Road in north Lowestoft - which features around 350 properties.

On Tuesday, homeowners on the winding street were unaware of Stebbings, and did not know she had moved to the area.

With her social media pages listing her previous employment as a former chef, she is believed to have worked in Boston, Lincolnshire for more than three-and-a-half years as she described a love of cooking.

In August 2014 she performed on stage at the Sparrow's Nest park in Lowestoft as part of the Summertime Fun in the Park fundraising concert that saw more than 1,000 people turn out to enjoy music, dancing and entertainment as funds were raised for East Coast Hospice.

Now, more than a decade on, the popular Gardens in north Lowestoft had become the focal point for a murder investigation at the weekend.

Having appeared at Great Yarmouth Magistrates Court on Monday, charged with the alleged murder of Gary Grant, 54, Stebbings - whose address was given as Spashett Road in Lowestoft - appeared via a video link at Ipswich Crown Court this morning.

Her solicitors said that Stebbings has mental health issues and asked that diminished responsibility be considered.

The court heard how Mr Grant was found unresponsive at Sparrow's Nest Gardens in Lowestoft at 10.13pm on Friday, March 20, and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

A full report from pathologists is awaited, but as it stands, there "could be three or four potential immediate causes of death," the court heard.

Stebbings was remanded in custody ahead of a pre-trial plea hearing on May 20, 2026, with a trial date scheduled to take place over 10-days within a three-week window starting November 16 at Ipswich Crown Court.

It emerged yesterday that Mr Grant - whose death was described as "heartbreaking" in touching 'RIP Sailor' tributes online - was the father of Ellie Grant, who was found dead in Fen Park, Kirkley, nine years ago. Ellie was 15.

It is believed she took her own life.
