Mumbai: Actress Madhoo is mourning the death of filmmaker Kuku Kohli, the director who gave her a Bollywood debut with Phool Aur Kaante. Kohli died in Mumbai on August 25 at the age of 77 after suffering a heart attack at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. His last rites were held at Oshiwara Crematorium on August 26, with several members of the film fraternity attending.

For Madhoo, Kohli’s death is a deeply personal loss. She recalled recently meeting the filmmaker and being struck by how well and happy he appeared to be. Speaking about his demise to News9 Digital, the actress said she was still trying to process the news.
