Kolkata records coldest January day in 12 years; check IMD forecast
New Delhi: Kolkata recorded its coldest January day on Tuesday, January 6, as the temperature plummeted to 10.2 degrees Celsius, according to the IMD. The next two days will also be intensely cool across southern West Bengal.
The minimum temperature across Kolkata had dipped 11 degrees Celsius only once in the last decade, touching 10.9 degrees Celsius in 2012. The all-time low remains 7.2 degrees Celsius, marked in December 1965.
In some areas, Dum Dum recorded 9.5 degrees, and Howrah recorded 9 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, marking below the 10-degree mark, according to the IMD.
