US Proposes New tariffs On 60 Economies Over Forced Labour Concerns, Including Pakistan
The United States Trade Representative has proposed new import duties of between 10 and 12.5 per cent on goods from around 60 economies, including Pakistan, India, China, the European Union, and the United Kingdom, over allegations that they have failed to adequately prevent the import of goods linked to forced labour.
The proposal, which follows a series of trade investigations launched by the United States into major trading partners, is now subject to a public comment period ending on 6 July, after which hearings will be held before any final decision is taken.
