What This Magician Knows About the Power of Presentation

It's Cyber Monday, which means it's time for a guide to the best tech devices you can buy right now for your small business. Whether you're looking to upgrade your laptop or you need a new printer for your office, this list will help you track down the best tech devices you can buy right now.

It's been true for a while now that the best laptop for most people is Apple's MacBook Air. That was true even before Apple Silicon made the MacBook Air even more efficient and powerful. The M2 version might be the best combination of power, efficiency, and form factor ever made. It's more than capable of handling anything you might need it to do on a regular basis, with battery life that will last you all day.

Right now, you can get the base model M2 with 8GB of memory and 256GB of storage for $949 from Best Buy.

If you still print stuff, the thing you probably care about most is having something reliable that you never have to think about. That's the Brother MFCL275DW. Yes, the name is ridiculous, but that's literally the only downside to this printer, which also has copy and scan capabilities. It's a laser printer that will just do the thing you need it to do, without running through ink cartridges at an unreasonably fast pace.

Right now, this printer is on sale at Amazon for $269. By the way, if you don't need the additional copy and scan features, the HL-L2305W works just as well for half the price.

Opal's original webcam, the C1, was an interesting experiment. The idea was that it was a better webcam at a time when everyone needed a webcam. It was good, but it was finicky and hard to set up. Opal's second attempt, called the Tadpole, improves on the original in every way. First, it's small and meant to clip onto a laptop. More important, the quality is just as good, but everything about it is simpler and easier to use.

The Opal Tadpole is $175, and available on the company's website.

After reviewing the M3 iMac--which is a very good machine--the thought I kept having is that this is the perfect desktop computer for the few places where desktop computers are still a thing. Sure, most people use laptops, but there are still reasons to choose a desktop, and in that case, the iMac is great. For example, the iMac is still the best choice at the check-in desk at your pottery studio or at a common workstation at a marketing agency.

Not a lot has changed since the M1 version, which is kind of a good thing. It's the same whimsical iMac, but faster and with the option for more memory. Right now, B&H Photo has the base model on sale for $70 off.

I think it's fair to say that Sonos makes the best speakers you can get for your money. The Era 100 series is great if you're looking for something to use as a smart speaker in your office that also happens to do a great job at playing music. The Era 100 sounds great and benefits from all of the other Sonos tech you've come to expect. Right now, the Era 100 is on sale at Best Buy for $199.

The thing I like the best about the DS-640 is that you can program its single button to scan your document and save it in whatever location you want. That means that once you get it set up, you don't have to deal with scanner software ever again--a real bonus if you spend much time scanning receipts or invoices, or whatever else you need to save in digital form.

Right now, the DS-640 is on sale at Amazon for $99.

If work means getting on an airplane for any amount of time, you know that a good pair of noise-canceling headphones is a must. I've always been a fan of the Sony WH-1000 series. The XM5 is the latest version, and they're great. They sound great, and they do the most important thing--block out extra noise--as well as any headphones I've tried. They're also the most comfortable pair I've tested.

You can get the XM5 on Amazon on sale for $328 for Cyber Monday.

Over the past few years, fast SSD drives have really come down in price. That's great if you need extra storage on the go. My personal favorite go-to right now is the Crucial X10 Pro model. Rated at 2,100 MB/second, it's fast enough for just about any workload. More important, these things are a steal right now. The 4TB model is only $260.99. The 1TB version is only $91 from Crucial's website.

There are a lot of options for charging your iPhone on your desk. My favorite is the Anker 633 Magnetic Wireless Charger (MagGo). It'll charge your iPhone and AirPods at the same time, but the best feature is that the magnetic charging area slides out and serves as a wireless battery pack that works on any MagSafe iPhone. The Anker 633 is $86 on Amazon.

Every laptop comes with a charging brick, but if you travel with anything else, you probably need more than just one port. The Nomad 130W power adapter is kind of a beast, but with three USB-C ports, it'll fast-charge a MacBook Pro, while also providing enough power to charge an iPad and your iPhone. The best part is it's on sale right now for only $77 from Nomad.
